Weiyu CHEN discovered the musical world during her childhood when she learned the electronic organ. She then started to study piano at the age of 7. In 2004, she joined the Conservatory of Sichuan where she was trained by Jing HUANG.
In 2005, she won twice the first price of the Young Asian Talent contest.
At her arrival in France in 2008, she pursued her studies at the National Conservatory of Nice (CRR) where the french pianist Françoise CHAFFIAUD taught her. At the CRR of Nice, she deepened her knowledge of modern and contemporary repertoire in Stephanos THOMOPOULOS’ class. Alongside, she followed courses of Romano PALLOTTINI. She also participated in the masterclasses of Bruno RIGUTTO, Jean-Claude VANDEN EYNDEN, Hortense CARTIER-BRESSON, Raoul SOSA and Marie-Josèphe JUDE.
In 2011, she won the second award of the International Simone Delbert-Février piano contest in Nice. In 2013, she obtained her Diploma of Musical Study (DEM) with mention très bien.
Then, since 2016, she started to study Jazz to diversify her experience. She also recently began to compose.
Weiyu Chen’s first recital at Si Chuan in 2007 was a great success. She then performed her first tour in several Chinese cities. Since 2008, she has had an international career in France, Monaco, Spain, Belgium and in China. She was invited to play in the “C’est pas Classique” festival in 2009 and in 2016. During this year, she performed a four-handed piano concert with Françoise CHAFFIAUD. She then played in recitals fort the Music Festival of Menton in 2013, MANCA festival in 2014 and at the Printemps des Arts of Monte Carlo in 2015. In 2014, she was invited as a young soloist to play the Concerto of Schumann with the Orchestra of Cannes-PACA. In 2017, she participated in the second edition of the “Spheramusic” festival in Watermael-Boitsfort (Belgium).
Since 2019, Weiyu CHEN is the artistic director of her piano school, in 2023 she also became the director of the SiChuan YuSheng Education Consulting Co.,Ltd.
