Evelin Degen (Düsseldorf) is a flutist and since 2020 director of the German-based PART Ensemble, which specializes in contemporary music and interdisciplinary projects. From 2011-2023 she directed the E-MEX Ensemble (Record Critics’ Award 2023 for chamber music).
Concerts have taken her to the relevant festivals in various European countries (including Warsaw Autumn, Nymusikk Oslo, BEAST Birmingham, NOW Festival Essen, 8Brücken Cologne), as well as to North and South America and Asia.
As a soloist, she is interested not only in the traditional repertoire but also in contemporary music, as documented by numerous premieres of pieces dedicated to her, radio recordings and CD recordings. Together with her duo partner Matthias Geuting she is working on an expansion of the repertoire for flute and organ (recently released: CD Elliptic Curves). Another focus of her work are interdisciplinary projects with representatives from dance, acting and visual arts.
Evelin Degen has been teaching at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Dusseldorf since 1997, where she was awarded the title of honorary professor in 2011. She gives master classes and workshops all over the world and has repeatedly been a lecturer at the College of Music and Art Montepulciano.
