An international concert artist, Benoît Fromanger studied the flute at the CRR in Versailles and then at the CNSMD in Paris with eminent teachers such as Roger Bourdin, Alain Marion and Jean-Pierre Rampal.

After ten years as Super-Soloist with the Orchestre National de l’Opéra de Paris, his interest in orchestras and his curiosity led him to Germany, where he was appointed Super-Soloist with the prestigious Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Lorin Maazel) and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He has since been a guest of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.

This career has enabled Benoît Fromanger to enrich his musical knowledge and to be conducted by conductors as L. Bernstein, B. Haitink, Z. Mehta, C.M. Giulini, D.Barenboim, P. Boulez, C. Davis, G. Solti, C. Kleiber, R. Muti ,M. Jansons…

At the same time, he pursues a career as an international soloist, creating numerous works of which he is the dedicatee.

He has performed in numerous festivals and major concert halls, accompanied by orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, the Orchestre d’Auvergne, the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, the Munich Baroque Soloists, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the American Chamber Orchestra, the KBS Orchestra of Seoul, the NHK Tokyo, the Montreal Symphony etc…

Benoît Fromanger has varied his experiences by taking part in numerous performances, concerts, masterclasses and chamber music ensembles with : Gautier Capuçon, Mischa Maisky, Viktoria Mullova,Juliette Hurel, K.& M. Labèque, Maxim Vengerov, Andras Schiff, Denis Pascal, Jessy Norman, Carolyn Carlson, Sylvie Guilhem, Sting, Claude Bolling, Alessandro Baricco, Julie Depardieu etc…. His discography, which includes numerous recordings for various labels (EMI, Forlane, Verany, Tudor, Sony, etc.), has received a large number of awards, including the Grand Prix du Disque, the Diapason d’Or and the American Awards.

Benoît Fromanger is professor emeritus at the Hochschule Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin (2004-2023).

Professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (2008-2018), he regularly gives master classes at the Royal Academy in London and in China, Korea, Japan, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, North America, Latin America and Europe.
