Teodora Sorokow was born into a family of musicians in Sofia, Bulgaria. At the age of four and a half she received her first violin lessons at the “l. Pipkov music school”. First she studied with Irina Dragneva, later with Garnik Goukasjan and Prof. Evguenya-Maria Popova.
In 1993 she moved to Lisbon with her family, where Teodora Sorokow continued her studies with Prof. Valentin Stefanof.
From 1994 to 2002 Teodora Sokorow studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Prof. Johannes Meissl and Prof. Josef Hell and finished her first study section with honors.
In 2002 she continued her studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Prof. Mincho Minchev and in February 2004 completed her studies and her diploma thesis with honors. Teodora Sorokow received scholarships throughout her studies from the Tokyo foundation as well as from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
During her studies Teodora Sorokow gave numerous solo performances at the Wiener Konzerthaus, at a charity concert in the Wiener Börsensaal under the patronage of Sir Yehudi Menuhin und as part of a charity concert in the office of the chancellor in Vienna. She gave solo performances as well as chamber music performances in Schleswig – Holstein Festival – Germany, at Vienna Symphony Chamber music festival in Vienna Musikverein – Austria, in Luxemburg, Portugal, Italy, Bulgaria and China.
Every summer she participates with Ensemble concertante in the chamber music cycle at the International Music Festival Grafenegg in Austria.
In 1998 Teodora Sorokow won the concertmaster audition of the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra and performed with the orchestra in the Berlin Festspielhaus, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Wiener Musikverein and the great hall at the Moscow conservatory. She participated in the „World Youth Music Forum“ in Moscow, conducted by Maestro Valeri Gergiev.
In 2010 she and pianist Ruzha Semova founded a chamber music duo and they play several concerts in many International Festivals in all Europe and Asia. Their first CD was released in 2013.
Since 2017 she has been a member of Ensemble ARS Nova Lux.
In 2015 – 2016 Teodora Sorokow teached at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts and she has held several international violin and chamber music master classes in: Milano – Bicocca University, Masterclass in French Provence, Sozopol Masterclasses – Bulgaria, Eisenstadt Easter Seminar- Austria, Musik Werkstatt in der Süd Steiermark – Austria, Amadeus International School Vienna and Russian – Austria Summer Music School in Bregenz, in Shenzhen – China.
On the basis of her performances and achievements Teodora Sorokow was granted Austrian citizenship in 2005.
Teodora Sorokow performs frequently with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Wiener Kammerorchester, the Wiener Concert-Verein, the Wiener Kammerphilharmonie, the „Arpeggione“ Chamber Orchestra, the „Art Kamera Wien“, the first Austrian Women’s Chamber Orchestra and – in the role of principal violinist – the Symphony Orchestra Vorarlberg.
From 2004 to 2005, she was a member (1st violin) of the Nürnberg Symphony Orchestra and since December 2005 she is a member (1st violin) of the Tonkünstler Orchestra Niederösterreich.
From 2017 until 2020 Teodora Sorokow was violin teacher at Prayner Conservatory Vienna.
Since 2022 she is violin professor at Richard Wagner Conservatory Vienna.
