Pierre-Kaloyann was trained by the Lithuanian pianist Muza Rubackyté and participated in master classes given by great piano masters such as György Sebök, Sergio Perticaroli, Bruno Rigutto, Klaus Hellwig and Jean-François Heisser.
In June 2007, he graduated with highest honours from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he studied with Brigitte Engerer and Alain Planès for four years. He also studied conducting with François-Xavier Roth and musical analysis with Claude Ledoux.
In 2007 he founded the Atanassov Trio with violinist Perceval Gilles and cellist Sarah Sultan. The trio has won prizes at the world’s major international chamber music competitions, performed throughout Europe and recorded three CDs devoted to French and Czech music. The latest, Bohemian Rhapsodies (Dvořák /Suk), was released in 2022 on the Paraty label.
When he is not performing with his trio, Pierre-Kaloyann Atanassov shares the stage with other artists such as cellist Olivia Gay, violinist Svetlin Roussev, violists Manuel Vioque-Judde and Léa Hennino, clarinettist Shelly Ezra and soprano Clémentine Decouture…
In addition to his concert activities, Pierre-Kaloyann is a qualified pedagogue and teaches piano at the Conservatoire de Vannes in Brittany. He is also artistic director of the chamber music season “La Schubertiade de Sceaux” near Paris and of a festival in Brittany.
