Born in 1965 in Marseille, Françoise Verherve began the harp at Marseille National Conservatory with Michelle Vuillaume.
She obtained there a First prize in 1982 and the same year she entered in Paris CNSMD – National Superior Conservatory – where she won the First prize in the harp class of Gérard Devos in 1985.
She then improved with Jacqueline Borot and in 1987 she presented the International Harp Competition in Gargilesse where she won the 1st Prize unanimously and 2 Special interpretation Prices for the works of Maurice Ravel and Yoshiirza Taira.
After working in several French orchestras (Opéra de Lyon, Montpellier, Monte Carlo), in 1990 she is appointed solo harpist at the Orchestra of the Frankfurt Opera. She is also regularly invited to play in the most famous German orchestras such as : Berlin Philharmonic, NDR Hamburg Orchestra Bamberg, SWR Stuttgart as well as the Paris Orchestra.
Françoise Verherve also performs regularly concerts as a soloist and also in chamber music in France, Germany, Turkey, Egypt …
Passionate about teaching, Françoise Verherve is a professor at the Hochschule in Frankfurt – Superior Musical Conservatory. She gives master classes in several European countries and provides tutoring the young harpists of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain as well as the youth orchestra “Junge deutsche Philharmonie” in Germany.
She is regularly invited as jury member for International Harp Competitions.
